Refresh rate Vs FreeSync query?

Hi guys,

Quick question, I'm looking at a monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate but the screen comes equipped with FreeSync as well, but I'll be using an nVidia Titan X Pascal GPU, so the FreeSync will be useless to me, but I'm reading some comments that suggest the refresh rate on FreeSync monitors are connected, so I couldn't utilise the 144Hz unless I have an AMD GPU, is this correct??

Thanks :)

I've been looking at so many monitors over the last few days I think my brain is going to explode!

The link above is one I'm considering, and it's an example of many others I'm looking at also?

I know what that's like lol!

The Asus XG32VQ uses the Samsung LSM315DP01 panel, which is native 144Hz. The AOC AG322QCX uses the same panel, so you could look to that one if you wanted to spend a bit less.

You may have seen it, but PCM did a good reivew of the Asus here: https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/asus-xg32vq/

He also reviewed the AOC: https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-ag322qcx/

I have a Samsung LC27HG70 with a 1080Ti and the Freesync is just turned off. I get 144Hz with no issue.

I think off the top of my head almost if not all 144Hz FreeSync panels do 144Hz with an nVidia card? it is some 75Hz and 100Hz panels that don't do more than 60Hz without FreeSync active.
