If a higher refresh rate than 60 HZ on these TFT will make no differance,
Why are they coming out with 100 HZ pius monitors soon.

Bye the way from my experiance on my TFT refresh does make a big differance in a racing sim i play, it needs 75 hz plus to run smooth.
60hz and it stutters.no matter what RES.

From what i've read TFTs currently run at 60 Hz internally, so even though you can set them to 75 Hz it's converting the signal down to 60 Hz, that's why you'll read that there isn't a huge point in using above 60 Hz on current TFTs. However if you do select 75 Hz, the game and your video card are still both working at 75 Hz, so for instance if you game with v-sync on you can in some circumstances get a better framerate since the time wasted waiting for retraces will be reduced.

The upcoming 120 Hz screens, there's a few different technologies there, some will be genuine 120 Hz screens, some insert black screens in between frames to reduce the amount of ghosting your eyes see (which is supposed to work btw).

As for stuttering, turn off v-sync if you're using it. Otherwise just use 75 Hz if it solves the problem. Wouldn't be a Simbin game that's stuttering would it? A lot of people had stuttering problems with GTR I remember.

Thanks good reply.
The motor racing sim is GRAND PRIX LEGENDS.
And always turn V-YNC off.
Thankyou.

Used to run a Grand Prix Legends league (the brit league), and race in it of course, for about 5 years, best racing sim ever :) Haven't played it for a while though, and not at all since I switched fom CRT to LCD (partly because my wheel never worked right under XP), so I don't have any gems of wisdom regarding getting it to run smooth on an LCD.

I am surprised it stutters at 60 Hz though, especially with v-sync off. It's one of the few games that's framerate limited (to 37 fps IIRC) so maybe that's something to do with why it stutters at certain refresh rates. Maybe ask on the racesim central GPL forums (http://forum.rscnet.org) about it, someone there is sure to know.
