Refresh Rate

After downloading some demo`s to test my new 8800gt, a problem has reared its ugly head again. The refresh rate in the game defaults to 60hz.

On my old system, this was no problem, as i had refresh rate overrides.

After all this time, why does this problem still exist? :(

Anyway, unless i am blind, stupid, or both, i seem unable to find any way of doing this via the new "user friendly" NV control panel.

Can anyone help me. Using XP Home SP2 BTW

Some games override it in vista64.

Use the old Nvidia CP or both, by changing REG Entry (I will look it out if you want)

But then you need a working patch like Coolbits 2.0 (adds stuff not needed but allows Refresh Overrides on newest drivers where as previous builds dont now on newest drivers.

Spot on. I forgot to say i am still using a CRT. (Though you probably guessed:p)

I know the reg hack for the RRO, i just need the old CP back. If you could let me know the hack, that would be great.

Easiest way is simply to edit the driver inf before installing I find.

-Extract driver to temp location
-Edit nv_disp.inf
-Find the line starting "NV_MODES"
-Add change your resolution to be equal to 80xx, where xx is the hex code of the refresh rate you want
-Save the changes
-Run the setup.exe from that directory

e.g. I want 1680x1050x32 @ 75hz, which is 4B in hex, so I need 1680x1050x32=804B. Hence my line in the driver inf looks like this:

HKR,, NV_Modes, %REG_MULTI_SZ%, "{*}S 720x480 720x576=1;SHV 2048x1536x32=1;1680x1050x32=804B;1920x1200x32 1920x1440x8,16=1D;640x480 800x600 1024x768 1280x768 1280x1024 1600x1200 1920x1200x8,16=3D;1920x1440x32=9;1920x1080=C01E;2048x1536x8,16=D;{400-42F,611}S 1920x1440x64 2048x1536x64=1F;640x480x64 800x600x64=1FC2;848x480x64 960x600x64=1FFF;1920x1200x64=2;{191-19E,400-42F,611}S 720x480x64 720x576x64=1;640x480x64 800x600x64 1024x768x64 1280x768x64 1280x1024x64 1600x1200x64=3D;720x576x64=8032;1920x1080x64=C01E;"
