I've managed to narrow down my problem with resuming from sleep in Vista x64 to this setting.

For some reason my Gigabyte P35C-DS3R defaults this setting to zero when the SPD default says 42.

Going back a step, I was having trouble resuming from sleep in Vista when overclocking in the BIOS, and I went away and did some trouble-shooting. The upshot was that I could take my 2140 up to 400 FSB with no issues, so I started fiddling with the memory settings. I noticed that, when I changed the OC setting from auto to manual and set 4-4-4-12, the refresh to ACT setting was 0 instead of the SPD setting of 42. Changing this back to 42 suddenly allowed me to resume from sleep.

I have two questions:

- what does this setting do?
- what should I be setting it to, and does it hold any benefit to reduce its value?

Ok re the above - scratch it! I set the refresh to ACT delay to zero and reduced the memory back to 1:1 (800 MHz) and sleep works a.o.k..

The conclusion is - the machine works fine with the memory at 960MHz for all intents and purposes but does not allow resume from sleep at 4-4-4-12 when at anything above 800 MHz!!

Strange indeed!!!
