Today the old iPod nano we use on the docking station in summer (kept in kitchen- not in direct sun) finally died. The screen turned fully white. (WSOD :p) After thinking the heat may have caused the problem I used the 'theory of opposites' to solve this. I put the iPod in the fridge for 15 mins. It works!!!!! Brilliant I thought. Five mins later it died again.

However I've noticed if I leave it in the fridge it'll keep working. Is this a winter iPod? Refridgerated iPod? :D

I'm going to leave it in there untill I go to bed and see if the long spell in the fridge has finished off the old dog or perhaps has cured him for a little longer... :D

I'll keep you posted ;)

Could be, but then I wouldn't expect it to display a great big white screen. Then again, it's old enough for that to be the problem and actually it's pretty likely thats the case.

I'm hoping that it's potentially an issue where something inside (probably something connecting/controlling screen) has perhaps baked itself away from the contact, so perhaps I can freeze it back into place.. :p

It's been going for an hour or so this morning. Pretty good.

I think so long as we keep it on the docking station (it's intended use anway - just music for the garden) and try to keep it out of the sun we should be okay. I'll update it in a weeks time to see if it seems a long term solution.
