I've never owned a Mac before, but am tempted to take the plunge and trying to work out the best bang for my buck. I'm currently considering the entire range and have no specific desire for a laptop/desktop - so am open about what I get.

Checking out the Apple online store, you can get some really good bargains in their refurbished section.

Has anyone purchased a refurbished apple product before? How do they tend to be? If there was the odd minor scratch I'd have no problems, but I don't really want the thing to be covered in paint or anything silly :)

Exactly how refurbished are they? :)

Refurbed like new. The only way you'll tell they're not new is that they come in a brown box instead of a shiney white one.

What this man said. Get a refurb, if I had known myself I could have saved a lot of money going this way.

Thank you!

I feel a bit nervous plonking down £1000+ for something 'used', but it seems like such a good saving.

Very often it's brand new kit, perhaps previous generation being sold off cheaper but called 'refurb'.

You'd never know that it's refurbed and not new, and you get the full warranty as well.
