Refurbished Laptop

Hi

I am helping my Mum out choose a laptop for my Dad's Christmas. Her budget is between £250-£300. I have thought about a refurbished laptop as you can get some that are in just as good condition and they can be cheaper. Any tips on what or where is good to look for or what makes are good?
