Refusing delivery of an order?

Hi,

I've ordered some stuff from a large trade DIY place (not sure if I can name it). But have since found it much cheaper elsewhere.

It has gone past the point where I can cancel before it is dispatched, so is the next easiest thing to refuse to accept the order?.

This should mean it will just get sent back to them, and should save me from having to pay postage to return it?.

Or will this not work?.

Advice welcomed

Chris

isnt there also normaly a fee for them to restock the item? if there is at the place you ordered from, you may end up loosing the money you saved by ordering elsewhere by having to pay a restocking fee and delivery from the first place you ordered from.

There is a Distance Selling Act (2000) in the UK, you can refuse the goods on delivery and they are returned to the company, when you can request a refund of said goods price (NOT delivery charge). You can also inspect items (not open box) and then post back if they are unsatisfactory.

Delivery was free, so in theory if I refuse delivery I will get all of my money back?.
They can't change their mind and charge me for delivery?

Restocking fee is Retail, when the item is suitble for resale to another customer with it not used, as the company dosen't have to take it back in the first place.

I ordered a monitor, didn't want it because it was faulty. So arranged for a new Samsung to be delivered at the same as collection of the LG monitor.

LG monitor was received, then they arranged for a replacement - not a refund as I asked!

Told them what happened, they confessed to mistake, and advised I declined delivery and return to sender. Did this, and am now waiting for my refund.
