Refusing to fill out the census

The woman had a lot more patience with him than I would have done..

The person on the video was just a census collector who is supposed to be a friendly face who reminds and offers help to people who haven't filled theirs in.

I wish I'd known they send round women like that (going from what I could see of her) to help you fill it in if you haven't done it.. Would have mde it much more enjoyable! :D

Does this information find it's way into the hands of marketing companies like experian though? And what happens when this data is inevitably hacked or lost?

You mean like all those other previous Census that have been hacked or lost?

Rabble rabble rabble!

Even i can see there is some weight behind the idea that forcing people to fill out a survey is wrong, although for most people the effort of fighting it is too great compared to the ease of filling it in.

But insulting somebodies IQ or calling them swear word because they dont conform to your beliefs.

Your are all sheep incapable of independent thought.

'Burn the witch'
'Kill the commie!'

Group mentality - More evil than any religious war, ever.

Well said sir

Really, so filming someone calling at a flat/council house and filming the legs and lower half of a female, why does he need to film it, he is filming it for a specific reason.

It says it wasn't his property.

She's in a public place (on a pavement, you see other people walk by) so yes, she can be filmed. You don't need a reason. Although I wouldn''t suggest you go around filming all female legs and breasts that are walking along pavements.

They don't like that apparently, that's what the judge told me anyway:(

He entered into the contract when he agreed/decided to live in this country.

He can follow the rules and laws of the country, or move somewhere else. Bloody hippies.

Well he was probably born here. And he's being threatened via a £1000 fine into filling it in, just like everyone else.

All I can say is twit...

1. I have not entered/signed a contract to accept the speed limit so I can go down the motorway at 100mph....yeah right.

2. My wife traced her family tree back to the 1700s using censuses. Imagine in 100 years his great grandson is doing the same, so he asks his mum about her grandad. Your grandad was a plonker so we know nothing about him apart from this very low res youtube video (it was all the rage back in the day) and didnt fill out the census, now the entire family is poor/dying because he got fined £1000 and could afford "the medicine".

1. is silly
2. I can't really find a reason why I'd care to know

Also its illegal to film someone without their knowledge, so she could country contract him

LOL!

What if you don't want to but have no ability to leave?

Then it appears you've got essentially four options:

1) Fill in the form, it won't take long and it may help out the country in a small way.
2) Fill out the form with vague or just plain incorrect details - it's not within the spirit of the thing but you've done something and you'll never hear anything else about it.
3) You're a citizen of the EU, take advantage of this and go ply your trade elsewhere - either where they don't have a census at all if such a country exists in the EU or just pick alternating years so you avoid it that way.
4) Don't complete the form, make an issue out of it and potentially face a fine - it could cost you up to £1,000 but really what's £1,000 vs your principles? This fine lasts you for the next 10 years so if you look at it this way it's less than £2 per week over that time to stand firm on your principles - almost a bargain with something so important. If however you're not willing to pay this insignificant amount to defend your principles then you've got to question whether you do in fact hold these principles as strongly as you profess.

The you in the above could equally be substituted for one as it's not specifically about you.

According to all the "free man on the land" stuff...

Sadly or happily, depending on your point of view, it's a load of tosh. It's just people trying to opt out by finding what they believe are loopholes but is more accurately an inadequate understanding of the law.

awesome.

People who live in the Bronx have to fill in the form too.

It took me 20 minutes to fill in the census form for 2 of us and was an utter doddle. I really can't see the problem with it tbh.

I did it whilst the women was at the door, literally a 2 minute job for one person.

It's all information banks, insurance companies and other suppliers have on me anyway so why should I care about the census? Guy in the video is a plonker.

I think this guy is a tool.

He also reminds me a lot of some of the people on benefits who live on the estate across from me. They seem to enjoy getting into arguments with people and squaring up to anyone over the most trivial things, because they simply have nothing better to do.

I never felt that any of the information on the Census was that revealing. It mostly just wants to see if you are employed, where you live, who you live with and how you pay to live where you do. There was nothing about how much you earn or too much that is really that invasive.

This guy clearly doesn't work, because he was at home waiting and ready to film it all.

At the end of the day, the people who are going to get into trouble with not filling in the Census are going to fall into two camps. Those who are just deliberately awkward, like this bloke. Or those who actually have something to hide. Criminals, illegal immigrants etc... but not filling it in, they risk the Police eventually looking into who they are, which is probably actually a good benefit to the Census.

It's funny how the people who all comply because it's the 'Law' and they 'have' to say the ones who refuse to fill it in are idiots.

You all should know that the Company charged with running the Census is a USA Company, as such is required by US Laws to give all data to the CIA/FBI, no big deal you say, just remember the USA can and does extract 'Suspects' from their Sovereign Countries without recourse from UK Law, it imprisons 'Suspects' illegally in all International Law, Tortures 'Suspects' again against all Internationally recognised conventions. No big deal you say, you have nothing to hide right?

Fact is, mistakes in Databases happen all the time, Data is lost, stolen, bought/sold, altered, incorrect, untrustworthy, it could be YOU the CIA/FBI mistake calls Al-Qaeda No.1 most wanted, but still no big deal right?

In 1930's Germany the Census records there were used by the Nazis (OMG Godwins!!) to target Jewish Families, who had filled it all in, in good faith at the time, as it does no harm right?

The Govt. already knows EVERYTHING about you if you are a PAYE/Benefits, have NI Number, Passport, Car, so why does it need the information it already has?

It is illegal in the UK to send unsolicited goods, which is basically what the Census is, as if you refuse to comply, you have a chance of being charged for not filling it in.

But hey, just do as you are told sheeple.
