Refusing to fill out the census

It is illegal in the UK to send unsolicited goods, which is basically what the Census is, as if you refuse to comply, you have a chance of being charged for not filling it in.
What about things like the NIP, court summons, bills - all "unsolicited goods" by your definition that will incur costs if you do not comply with them?

one positive of this is the type of people who don't fill it out/give senseless answers are thus under represented in the statistics and government policy doesn't pander to them as much as it would.

So if he doesnt fill out the form i guess he doesnt expect any help from the nhs, police, fire, council services etc.

If the government stop taxing him then sure.

The kind of information you put in the form (basic stuff) is there to help society infrastructure work better.

Like the 2001 Census? what a roaring success that was :p how much has it cost btw?

Hemp paper? get the **** out!

On the last census I had an man knock on my door on the Saturday morning around 8:30 informing me I had to fill this form in with him, now this was after a Friday coke bender and I had not been to bed yet I told him to clear off in a round about way. 5 mins later he sheepishly returned to post in through my letter box. LOL
