Reg plates with badges?

Slightly related, but aren't reg plates with this "tat" actually illegal? I thought only a nation / EU flag was acceptable, and anything else doesn't conform to British Standards?

Actually it could look quite cool if paired with black alloys and some drift charms hanging off the towing eye.

I try to always get GB badges on my plates. Not necessarily because I think it looks cool, but because if I do go abroad, I don't want to have to stick a sticker / magnet on my paintwork.

Pretty anal really...

Only England flags and Playboy bunnies are cool. Everything else is naff.

Agreed...

Except it turns out that ANPR cameras read that little badge as an "A" and thus don't read my reg correctly.

I always thought they were rather naff, last time i got plates made up for my scooby i kind of wanted the welsh flag but turns out to drive abroad only the GB euro badge is valid and not the individual nations.

Naff, I like plates be as plain as possible, i.e. just the VRM and nothing else (aside from the tiny little BS markings etc)

Naff.

And not anal to not want a GB magnet on your car - I did so years back on my old Fiat Coupe for a Eurotrip, weather was sweltering and by the time I got back, the magnet had reacted in some way and marked my paint. Luckily, Halfords paid for a re-spray.

This. To me a registration number is nothing more than an administrative requirement so it should be as unobtrusive as possible. I wouldn't personalise it in the same way I wouldn't personalise the serial number of my phone.

I know that's not really a fair analogy, as your registration plate is visible to others, but that's kind of how I look at it :)

I wanted a welsh flag one too, but like you said...needs to be GB to actually be valid abroad and not require an extra giant sticker :p so there goes that idea......do like the audi rings/quattro though........but maybe not.

do like that scooby though xD it's illegal to change the spacing too isn't it? like say your reg is "XY01 ABC" so a standard issue current plate but then you get it remade so it is arranged "XY 01ABC", that's a no no...yes?
