You may ( or may not ) recall I posted a while back about selling my Jag X-Type and looking for a new car.

Well its sold now, and I'm looking around at a few options.

I have my eye on a particular car at a local dealer. A bit of a rare beast, a Vectra 3.0 V6 CDTi. Fully loaded with a couple of rare extras such as AFL which is difficult to find on any Vectra, including the range topping GSi.

Anyhow, asides from that, Reg Vardy are offering a "Free Servicing for life" deal just now. Anyone had any experience of that?.

I'm going back later in the week to test drive the car and I'll ask the salesman about the details of this, but I wondered what anyone else here knew about it. During our brief first chat when I went down there last Sunday for a look at the car, I asked him what the "catch" was with this servicing malarkey. He replied "Everyone asks that.........there is no catch".

He also said that the offer wouldn't last for much longer, indeed, according to him, Vardy wanted to bin it in January, but were moving so much stock off the back of the offer that they have decided to extend it for around another 6 months. Not sure if that was to try and persuade me to buy or not.

So, anyone know anything about this?.

Dude the words "rare" and "vectra" just don't go together. Its about as rare and precious as a dimonique QVC collection.

Good car though, RV have their ups and downs if you browse motoring forums. good offer. Makesure you get the terms and conditions in writing. I.E you may still have to pay for consumerables and wear and tear items which as you will be getting serviced at the main dealer they will probably shaft you good and propper.

LOL!!!

Have you tried sourcing one of these V6's?. They are as rare as the proverbial rocking horse poo up here in Scotland!!. I've been looking for one for some time now and this is the first thats cropped up in my area for months. Dealer says it wont hang around for long, but again, that might just be to snare me.

Cheers for the info though m8. I had an idea that consumables would not be included, thats only fair I 'spose. I'm wondering if they stipulate you must have it serviced with them and also if say, an exhaust goes, you must buy it and have it fitted by them, that type of thing?.

well if they are offering the free servicing it would make sense to get it serviced by them. But yes you would need to be hot on the consumerables and get them done independently before the cars go in.

Is the car new? If its S/H how much is it up for. A ex demo or 10k miler petrol V6 GSI is about £12,000

:D not related to the subject but i had his car when mine went in for a service at victoria BMW he had an AC Schnitzer M3 with the number plate PMV1 the guy told me the plate cost more then the car :D

(very fast too)
