I've recently ordered a 26" monitor but canceled as the order took too long to deliver (I didn't buy from OCUK, my fault. Lesson learned :D ). Anyway, my research continues and I won't ask you which screen to buy, I can figure that out myself. I only need to ask about screen sizes and how it influences stretching. I will only play at 1900 x 1200 in the forseeable future, although the option of 2560 x 1600 would be nice to have. Is a bigger monitor not always better?

Does size matter?

I see. So if I got 30" I should play at 2560 x 1600? Doubt my graphics card is up to it yet. Think I'll stick with a 1900 x 1200 max res for the time being.

I'm so close to ordering the Hanns-G 28" monitor. It's just the cheap price and the fact that I've never heard of Hanns-G that's stopping me. Silly, I know

Isn't getting one with a 1920 X 1080 resolution a good idea so it does 1:1 pixel mapping for HD sources such as HD video, and game consoles ?

I'd assume newer games support this res, however does it cause issues with older ?

1920*1280 is the exact size for two a4 pages on screen. Its the standard PC resolution. You still get 1:1 pixel mapping for HD sorces on one, you jsut get two small black lines at the top/bottom, which imo doesnt matter as they are "extra" pixels.

My housemate ahs the Hanns G 28 and it seems pretty damn good. I am fairly impressed with the build quality etc (nothing on my Hazro 30" though) and it seems like a steal for the money. He's only had it a couple of months though, it will be too bright out of the box, although you can get used to it, i'd recommend turning it down (unlike my housemate) as it makes the colours seem slightly washed out. He picked it up for 270£ delivered after looking around. Not sure what it is on OCUK atm though.
