My 2nd 360 should be here tommorow. Basically I will use the same gamertag on it. Do I need to register the 2nd serial number with a different email account or just register it to the same one?

Basically my first one has an extended warranty and I'm worried about them mucking it up on which console I have.

Can I have the same gamertag on both consoles? Obviously even with my multi tasking skills I can only use one at a time but is this still ok?

Under the Xbox.com account page I'm sure you can register any number of consoles to your gamertag/account. If in doubt mate give Microsoft a call, remember freephone ;).

I dont see why not, as long as they aren't both logged on live at the same time.

Surely its no different than logging on at a mates house.

Yeah fair point. I know you can enter your details in for console registration but is there anywhere online you can see which console serial is registered to you?

I just have my doubts that they swap them over after you send a borked one back.

I've got two 360s and I'm afraid theres only one way to have them both use the same gamertag.
You need to take the HD from your 'main' 360 and plug it into your second machine, power-up and sign-in. I tried many other ways, but this was the only way that worked.

Even though I have a hard drive for both??

Nope.
Just transfer your gamertag to a memory card and stick it in the machine you want to use.

So I will have to do that everytime I transfer between machines, thats a bit time consuming aint it? I thought I'd be able to have the dannyjo profile on both Hdd's and work from there as long as both were not on at the same time.

May as well sell on the second hdd then.

Surely you could have the "profile" on both but the saves would only be on the one you had saved on.

IE you could play GOW downstairs and finish it on hardcore getting all the achivements but you could't go upstairs and do Insane cause your saves are downstairs.

As for moving saved games, Isn't there isssues with this now to stop achevment cheats? Ive also read of people corrupting saves by moving them (mainly TDU i think from memory)

I did a lot of research into this when I got my second 360, and all the forums I visited said the same, you need to transfer your HD to your second machine.

Copying your profile to a memory card would be pointless as you still leave all your game saves on your HD, and you'll be needing those. It really isn't a problem to just whip it out and insert into your spare 360, it takes no time at all.

Yeah I see what your saying. So I really didnt need to buy a second premium then, I may as well of just brought a core. Time to check the bay for HDD prices.

Then again I back up all my saves to mem card anyway, so could I have the same profile on both Hdds and just bring my game saves to the 2nd console using the mem card?

Easiest thing to do is transfer just the profile to the Mem card, it could effect a few console locked games such as DOA4/TDU however (i.e saves wont work)

But by having the mem card with the gamertag, you can then savegames to the HDD and not have to do anything else.

My profile is on my Mem Card and i can just swap to any machine i want to use it on, the saves on the hdd link to the profile ne way

Sounds like a bit of a faff to me..why bother having two HDDs and all your saves on the memory card? Surely it's easier to just pop out the HDD and slip it into your second machine, takes no more time than pulling out a memory card and you get zero problems along with all your saves/downloads etc.
AND you can sell the spare HDD..whats wrong with that?

Yeah Ive sold the hdd for £45 so I end up with a premium broken down to a core with a HD cable. With everything I sold I might as well have bought a core.

Oh well shouldve researched the dual Hdd situation better. I assumed having the gamertag on two Hdds wouldnt be a problem.

I didnt say 2 HDD's - if he has the Mem Card loaded with the profile, he shoulds save games to the HDD only, he can that hotswap when needed

Yes and No - if you get an achievement on 1 HDD and not the other youll have to "Recover the gamertag" each time - thats why i said store the Profile on MU
