registery error on windows start

Hi all,

GF has a windows vista installed and has had a registery error for the past few days ive tried to use restore and looked at registery but can't get rid of it

"Cannot load or run C:\Users\Helen\AppData\Local\Temp\dwm.exe' Specified in the registery. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the ref to it in the registery"

Ive tried to run CCleaner also but this does nothing

you have been infected with a deadly trojan and your computer will self destruct



go to run and type msconfig, go to the start up tab and untick that file.

seriously though, that is malware.

after a few searches, it looks like a google redirect trojan. I would run malware bytes on the pc and hope that it removes it.

Nod32 and Malwarebytes picks nothing up

nod32 has probably already cleaned it then. Just has not removed the start up string. Just remove it from start up with regedit or msconfig.

open regedit search for that dwm.exe delete every occurance you can find.

Thanks managed to get rid of the string \o/ god it was annoying!

i wouldn't do this because there is actually a legitimate .exe named that in system32. Desktop Window Manager (DWM)
