Registration with details private ?

If you are a UK individual and you are making a .uk purchase for yourself (not for or on behalf of a business) you may opt-out of the WHOIS.
This is free of charge and an option Nominet themselves offer and allow.
Your name will appear, however that is all.
If you are registering for a business then Nominet state you cannot opt out.

Be careful with any "proxy" registrations.
Remember that the company who runs the .com domains quite clearly state in their T&C's that all WHOIS information must be current and correct.
By using a Proxy registration you are never in full control of your domain.
If you were to register a .com via Proxy and you had reason to complain to ICAAN or your registra were to vanish there would be no come-back.
As far as they are concerned the domain is registered in the other companies name - ICAAN and the like to not recognise Proxy purchases as 100% valid.

thanks

its almost like those share companies (legit of course) , nominee accounts ?

where to make life easier , they are yours but they own them to make admin easier but as you say , in the cowboy net world anything can happen

i guess - pick a big name for safety ?

heard godaddy do them but its still new to me

q) If NOMINET allow it officially - so .co.uk is covered - what other domains
allow it officially - that sounds a safe option ?
