Hi guys, just wondering if anyone can help me out with a registry problem?

I turned my desktop PC on today, and got a BSOD bad system config error. I have searched the error, and ran system recovery and both lead down to bad/corrupt registry. Im pretty sure windows update had installed updates upon last shutdown... but anyway, theres no system restore point either!

I have tried re-installing windows 7, but im still having problems with the registry.

Is there anyway to totally rebuild the registry for windows 7 using command prompt from the windows 7 disk? Anything that will fix this basically!

Hope this is in the correct forum, if not can a mod move it please!:o

Cheers
Adam

Hi paul, yes I did a fresh install of Windows 7 with a full format of the hard drive.

Cheers

Mp4, the only part of the error I can remember on the BSOD is bad_system_config. The error I received from the Recovery Menu was that the corrupt registry.

Lord, I have just started memtest now, I will post back with results.

Cheers

if you did a fresh install with a format its defo a hard ware fault

do you have any other parts you can swap out to test as an elimiination ?

Unfortunately not! :-(

I have managed to get Windows 7 installed and booted. Is there any other tests I can run to detect any faults?

The PC seems a touch unresponsitive also...

Cheers

EDIT-
Restarted and got a Windows Boot Manager error msg, An unexpected I/O error has occurred. Status: 0xc00000e9.

I think its time for a new hard drive!
