Not sure where to post this but .....

I have just cleaned a mates computer of something like 30 viri and malware etc but I keep getting one registry entry returning after it's been deleted; I wondered if any of you clever people might know how to dig the little bugger out? most things that I can find on the net just reccommend some antispyware or another; I've always used Search and Destroy (free) and found it to be very good but this reg entry keeps returning; where from?

Windows xp home with SP2, System resore turned off.
Spybot Search & Destroy and various other cleaning prog's.

All clean except for this reg entry: Zlob.Downloader.vcd

It is located here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VideoPlugin

I can delete manually or use the prog' but it returns on reboot.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Have you tried installing Adaware with the "teatimer" option on? That monitors anything adding registry entries and asks you to confirm them - this might help you track down the problem. I think you can tell it to "remember this" and it'll simply never allow that setting to be added.

Alternatively Mike Lin's Startup monitor is handy too:

Make sure any OS updates are applied, completely up to date as well as the latest version/patch of Internet explorer - it could well be downloading it.
