Hi

I did a completely new build of Win XP SP2 last night, and used the very latest Marvell Yukon drivers for the NIC (v 84923). Unfortunately, they have the same problems as some earlier versions.

I have an older version (v 84643) that worked fine. Unfortunately though, I can't 'roll back' the driver for the NIC as it was the first installed. When I try to install the older version with the 'update', I get a message saying it could not find a better match than the one currently installed.

In the ZIp files are .cat, .htm, .inf, .sys, and .txt files. I presume the only one actually important is the .sys file? If I use that in C:\windows\system32\drivers instead of the old one, will that be sufficient?

C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache

Cut and paste the drivers and .cab files from the above directory onto the root of C:

Goto device manager and un-install NIC, restart PC. When XP restarts it will try and re-install the drivers for the NIC but because you have moved them it will ask you for the drivers! Now direct it too the older drivers you want it too use. Sorted.

Cut and Paste back C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache (Personally I delete these as if it ever needs to use them I simply place the XP or drivers CD in the ROM)
