Regrets going from Intel to AMD?

I'm upgrading my machine from an Intel i7-4770k to a AMD 3900x and going to AMD for the first time. I have everything in the basket but before I click and make the purchase - I'd like to ask a few questions.

I was wondering if anyone that has done similar and has had any regrets?

Maybe some software not working or general hardware issues?

My main usages will be.

Development (Java)
General office
Photgraphy (Capture One, Adobe)
Video Editing (Premier Pro)
Converting video

Its hard to regret going from an old quad core to a monster 12 core 24 thread chip with ground breaking new design and speeds HEDT users used to dream about only a couple of years previous.
 
No regrets at all. Went from 4790k to 3700x. Use it for gaming, visual studio, android studio, postgres and sql server, photoshop and many other dev software. It never breaks a sweat even when I have multiple projects in each ide. Fabulous
 
i moved from a i9 7920x to a ryzen 9 3900x and i couldn't believe how much faster it was, plus the power draw dropped by almost half compared to my Intel rig.
well worth it a £479 amd chip traded blows with a £1000+ intel chip at the time.
 
Only thing I would say is high speed 3600mhz ram like team force dark pro makes quite a bit of difference as well. Might be worth changing that. It will still be great but I did notice a difference jumping from corsair 3200mhz to the above
 
2500K to 3700X brilliant upgrade, hard to get the most out of it, very little taxes it. Planning a 4950X after AM5 drops, should keep me going for years.

How much of a difference will it make?

I need 32gb, any recommendations?

3600mhz will allow you to run a 1:1 ratio with the infinity fabric of amd's cpu's the gains from this are pretty big but if you get a fast kit (cl14) then that offsets the need for 3600mhz, for the very best results a 3600mhz cl14 kit would be epic but at prices today you'd be looking around £400+ for a 32gb kit

shame I'm not able to log onto the member market as i have a spare set of corsair lpx 32gb cl18 3600mhz lying around doing nothing :(
 
I don't think you would lose that much if you sold down the line. It's very good ram and has a lot of overclocking potential. Never thought it would make as much difference as it did even with 4 sticks
 
I'll give overclockers a ring and see if I change the order.

I don't want to spend too much time overclocking if possible.
