I recently decided I wanted my system to have a smaller footprint.
I looked around at the options available and decided to build my own instead.
I am using a t slot aluminium extrusion system called makerbeam.

First test piece.

And basic frame is done, I need to wait for the standoffs to arrive before I can do much more.
There will likely be more beams for hardware mounting before it is done.

Interesting build how are temps ?

Not a fan of the power buton usb set up and bolts on the outside you can easily catch your fingers ,etc.
I have not checked temps yet, I still need to close 2 sides with temporary panels and add dust filters to intakes first.

I am not a big fan of the power and USB how they are either. Like the cardboard they are temporary, I just wanted to get them in roughly the right position and out of the way rather than dangling out of the case.

They will eventually be in cutouts for the panel on that side, but the cardboard I have, while sturdy, won't take the stress of plugging things into the usb.

All closed up with cardboard and mesh.

Temps taken with hwininfo64, while playing Cyberpunk 2077

In my homemade case:
Cpu- min 38, max 68 avg 53
Gpu- min 47, max 78, avg 70

Compared to open bench:
Cpu- min 30, max 73, avg 55
Gpu- min 47, max 76, avg 70

And in the Silverstone SUGO 14 with six case fans installed:
Cpu- min 45, max 72, avg 57
Gpu- min 51, max 84, avg 77

Temps are in (post above), just realised I should probably give component details for context.
i5-11400 power limit removed under a be quiet pure Rock Slim with an extra fan.
3080fe with stock clocks
Noctua nf-a12 as intake, nf-a14 as exhaust
Powered by a corsair sf750

Them temps are pretty good, cooler than the previous case too.

What material are you looking to make the sides out of once you know the layout and such?

Big advantage of making your own, you can plan airflow paths.
The old case had the passthrough fan on the 3080 exhausting into the back of the psu and then straight into the cpu cooler.

I have 2 dark blue acrylic panels already, those are going on the largest sides, if I can successfully cut an exhaust vent into one of them.

As for the rest of the sides, I was thinking white ABS, should be a nice contrast to the blue, then round magnetic stick on filters over the intakes.

That is looking amazing, only thing I would look at more is tthe finish around the case USB ports but I imagine thats not an easy thing to do.

Such a clean design overall and the screen inside is a cool addition.

This looks great mate and nice temps :)

Is this an experimental build or will this become your main build?

Also do you have links to the exact parts used and how much did it end up costing?

Thanks
