I plan on upgrading my CPU, MB and Graphics Card.

I currently have Windows Vista and Debian 5.0.5 installed (both on seperate drives).

Will i be able to just swap the components and the OS's will adjust accordingly or will it be best to wipe and start from scratch? I will be making a backup either way.

Probably be worth noting i'll br swapping from NVidia to ATI graphics cards as well.

Although, sometimes you don't need to reinstall - things will just about work if you need to recover data and backup. Its best to do a reinstall so you can utilize the new hardware. - This comes from upgrading an ancient and worn out p4 motherboard due to crazy overclocking to a shiny i7 one.

I would definatly recommend it! I recently upgraded my CPU+MOBO+ RAM and was extremely reluctant to re-install Windows due to the vast amount of files and lost CD keys installed on my PC. I did it in the end and I am very glad I did so, no issues whatsoever, OS is smoother than it would be and has less errors than if I didn't. Also making the jump from 32-bit to 64-bit made it even harder, but really is worth it in the long run.

If you don't the chances are you will get an instant BSOD, if you are lucky you will be able to carry on as normal, but expect lots of driver issues and BSODs. Same goes for if you do a repair install with your Windows CD.
