I have all the components needed for my new i5 system sat in a box (last piece - RAM delivered thoday!

Im currently running XP and have a single HDD partitioned as C: & E:
I have pre -ordered windows 7 so will have that in a month.
In the mean time i would like to use my shiny new hardware. Now, my question is, can i reinstall XP onto a partition on my existing HDD and keep all the other files intact????
I know if i get another HDD i can just mount my current one as a slave drive but i dont have another HDD and dont want to buy a new one!
