So I'm putting the finishing touches on a new build. In it, I'm going to be switching to a new SSD but for now I am also migrating all my drives from my current machine.

Should I duplicate my current SSD to my new one or should I install a fresh OS?

What methods do you suggest for either of these and for migrating data/apps/settings?

(I know it makes me seem like a newb, I've tried both before, but really I just wonder which is the best way to go about it.

I migrate as I cant be ***** to reinstall everything everytime.

Never done me any harm as I keep my system tidy. Have to way it up of new install bit speedier but then having to install everything over migrating and not having to do much at all and will just work same as before if not nippier with a faster ssd.

Those of you who fresh install, does that include reinstalling all your apps and redoing all those little personalisations of the OS that we accumulate over time? Got any methods to make this easy?

Ninite I know is great.

A possible issue you can run into when duplicating to an SSD is that the OS can be misaligned, which causes lower than expected performance.

i would do a fresh install ...... if u use firefox browser u can use mozbackup to copy passwords / logins / settings over/ bookmarks, also backs up Thunderbird mail aswell
