Hi Guys
I have to reinstall windows XP for my mother inlaw on her old AMD athlon computer.
Thing is I cant find any of the disks that it was supplied with.
If i Use Vista, will it find most of the stuff without requiring drivers ?
I can get AC97 and nvidia drivers no probs, its just the rest of the stuff

Hi there,

Is her PC connected to the internet (or do you have a mobile internet device you can plug in)?

If it is then installing the drivers will be pretty simple (look what the hardware is, download drivers).

If there is no internet, then I would find out all the hardware (internals and peripherals) she is running and look-up and download the vista drivers now - then take them over on a DVD or USB stick.

Windows vista will work fine initially without additional drivers as many are built in.

Aye, so long as you have the XP disk to do the re-install it won't be a problem not having all the driver disks.

As she is connected to the internet - just make sure you save a copy of the modem/wireless adapter/ethernet adapter drivers to a USB stick - as you will need this to connect to the internet and get all the other drivers.
