Reinstalled COD4 - Lost All Rankings

By some kind of miracle, I still have the player profles from my previous install. What do I do with it? I tried to copy it into a players>profiles folders that I made which weren't there originally for some reason but it still doesn't work.
 
I could be way off here bearing in mind I haven't played this excellent game in close to 12-18 months,
but there was a saved file going from someone who had reached the top level unlocking all weapons etc etc that you could drop in in place of yours.

Search google as it may still be available and sorry if it aint no longer there.

I found the m16 is the best weapon in the game I used it almost exclusively even with the highest rank. No red dot sight or any of that fancy stuff either. It`s a bit lacking in CQC tho..

I usually make a new profile with a different name, and then the game will make the folder and files so when you overwrite them with your backup you know they are in the right place.

I doubt you unlocked all the weapon add-ons and gold weapons in three days.
 
I lost mine too when i formatted :(

Usually very good atb backing everything up, but i totally forgot about COD4! Actually, i assumed it was handled online.

Put me off the game! Which is silly, i was only at level 19 or something! lol

Have a look on the net and google for servers (or clans) that use promod and then connect to it via the server list. I've lost my copy of COD4 so i may be wrong but i think thats the easiest way:)

What version of Windows are you using? Because I found on W7 it's in some weird location.

\Users\Name\AppData\Local\Virtual...
 
Just a heads up as some fool has linked to a level 55 hack.

If you use something like this, you will get banned. If the server you get banned on is streaming to PBBans/Punksbusted etc, you will be banned from *all* servers streaming to that particular anti cheat organisation - that means thousands of servers.

I see people complain about being banned for this type of hack in the PBBans support channel every single day. The bans never get lifted. If they want to play again, they need to buy a new copy of the game. New game = new cd key = new GUID which isn't banned.

It's also very common for these particular hacks to contain spyware that will steal your cd key too.


For the people complaining about losing your rank after you re-install COD4, just back up your profile regularly. It's quite literally a 10 second job of copying your profiles folder to another location on your HD. Google it, jeez.
 
Yeh, i thought it was incredibly odd that player stats were stored offline, bf2 which is god knows how many years old still keeps player data!
