Any one had the same experience - spent about 20-minutes whist some Microsoft techy surfed round on my desktop remotely to enable me to reinstall my own copy of W7 on my own computer.

All I did was a fresh reinstall with a new SDD - all legit of course.

Then after it was all sorted - at the end they pressured me for about 4 or 5 minutes to sign up for a 149 dollar service plan!

This includes 1 year unlimited support! PC Tune up, virus removal and resolves any software issues!

Cheeky moneys!

Im going with that guy was not from Microsoft and you should reformat your PC ASAP and dont do any internet banking. How did you get in contact with him?

Are you sure it was someone from MS, as there's a lot of fakes that say that they are (also you should nuke the sucker from orbit and start again as you wouldn't know what else was installed).

Hi,

I'm from the bank, I need to check your card details. Please confirm your name, address and give me your card details

Thanks

I stand corrected. Your opening post didn't mention this though, it sounded like you'd been called by a cold caller and didn't know what you were doing.

Still don't see why this exists though..

Maybe I should do this instead of forum posts :D

Lol sniff, there is nothing worse than Stulid's scorn!

No worries, tis sad that MS would probably sign up many older folk with this unnecessary service. You are right to warn about cold callers though, never give your details out.
