Reinstalled XP and now it restarts when i click turn off

Never had this problem with my previous installation of XP, but ever since i reformatted my GF's when i ask it to Turn off in the start menu it will say its shutting down, the monitor goes into standby but then the PC powers up again. This only happens sometimes, the other times it shuts down fine and i'm not doing anything different each time.

Any ideas?

What USB devices do you have plugged in? Some mobos have a USB power up feature and i have had this problem before with devices kicking it awake

Wake on LAN can cause it too. I worked for an ISP and sometimes when the cable modem was connected via ethernet, it would power up the PC. Check BIOS for Wake on LAN and wake on USB devices, such as keyboard. It could also be dodgy drivers, make sure you have the latest installed, most shut down issues I have fixed have been due to drivers or hardware.
