Reinstalling iPhoto?

I have installed Frontrow on my PPC Mac Mini (well, my parents one!) and everything but iPhoto is fine. When i try to view slideshows through Frontrow it's VERY slow at starting them, and sometimes comes up with the 'iPhoto is not responding' error.

What i thought i'd try is uninstalling iPhoto and reinstalling it. However, i NEED to keep the photo libraries intact. There can't be any chance of them disappearing if i try this!

So, can this be done sucessfully? If so, how do i go about it?

Thanks

First thing's first: In your Pictures folder is a folder called "iPhoto Library," back this up somewhere safe :)

Now, most problems are caused by a corrupted preference file, so, what we want to do is delete the preference file and let iPhoto make a new one.

Go to your Home folder, then Library, then Preferences, and delete the file "com.apple.iPhoto.plist"

You can just open a finder window and put iPhoto in the search box, then delete it from there, if you can't find it.

Now, fire up iPhoto and set any preferences you need to. If that's solved your problems, groovy :D if not, roll up your sleeves ;)

Go into the Applications folder and delete iPhoto, then delete the preference file as you did before. Whip out your iLife DVD, and chuck it in. Go through the installer and select "customise" when you get the chance. Deselect everything except iPhoto, and continue. When that's done, run Software Update, to get the latest updates. When all's said and done, you should have a shiny new copy of iPhoto.

Will this cause any problems with the iPhoto library? as i don't want to have to rebuild that if it's already there!
