Hi Folks,

I want to reinstall osx as I am selling my MBP. When I put the cd in and press install osx it doesn't give me the option to wipe the disk first/ install over my current install.

In the manual it says there should be a Erase and install option but I can't see it.

Can anyone help?

You can get into Disk Utility from the install screen which will give you the option to run a secure erase.

I can't remember exactly what point it is, but during the installation it will stop waiting for input and there's a menu bar at the top, one of them is [I think] Disk Utility and it's all in there.

As soon as you can see the menu at the top, you can choose Disk Utility and wipe the disk. When you close it the installation will carry on from where you left off.

Boot from the OS X disc.
When you see the installer screen, look to the top at the menubar.
Click "utilities" then "Disk Utility"
Now erase the disk and close disk utility when it's done.
Carry on with the installation, or simply shut the laptop down.

When the user starts the laptop it will resume from that point again.
