Reinstalling Vista

I have recently installed vista x64 on my main pc, however - the hard drive is now starting to make some nasty clicks. I have managed to back everything up, but don't trust that the drive is going to survive for much longer. Vista is an OEM version - what will be the procedure for installing on a new drive? Will I have to re-activate via microsoft?

Thanks in advance

Kev

U will have to reactivate vista , shouldnt think there be any problems , it'll just be a case of phoning the number it provides u and telling them the drive has died and been replaced with a new one.

Have u got smart enabled ? this should tell u if theres any errors with the drive.

Instead of waiting for it to die, you could pick up a new drive (or if you already have one), then simply clone the problematic one onto the new one. You can keep using the faulty one as a second drive for stuff that is either backed-up, etc until it dies. Did that for my 160GB which I thought was on its way. Still working away a year later :o

Vista will have recorded the HD S/N though, and make, drivers etc - so depending on how fussy the OEM version is, you'd still have to reactivate.
