Reinstalling Windows 10 Store games without downloading again

Does anyone know how you can get a fresh install of Windows 10 to recognise game folders (Gears of War 4) that was installed on an external drive in the previous installation?

You will need to take ownership of Program Files\WindowsApps folder on your external drive and copy Microsoft store games folders to backup folder. Then with new fresh install Windows, you will need to take ownership of Program Files\WindowsApps folder on your external drive again and paste Microsoft store games folders from backup folder.

Thanks, I'll give it a try the next time I reinstall Windows. I overwrote all my Gears 4 files by just telling Windows to install back to the same drive. It didn't pick up there was an existing installation - it deleted it all and started to download from scratch. Windows store is complete tripe.
