Reinstalling Windows on Laptop - Min Install?

Hi Guys,

Wanting to reinstal windows on sisters laptop, with it being a bit crap on the spec, just wondering if anyone knows of a decent stripped down windows i can download?

It still needs to be able to connect to the net and everything, but would be great if we can get it to run without all the crap in the background without needing to spend any time tweaking!

Is this something peeps can help with?

Windows, this is linux forum.

Indeed. However before the threads moved.......
NLite is probably the best bet, allows you to strip out all the garbage from xp and make a custom install from your original XP disk.

Sorry guys, wasnt sure if it was windows, or wether due to the nature if it would be an open source software similar to it.

Iv decided to go for pcbsd, see how i get on with that.
