I don't want to have to re-configure all my ui, if I copied the interface folder would this save all the addons and their settings as well as the games settings ?

Yeah WoW doesn't save anything worthwhile in the registry, just backup the whole folder and copy it back when you have reinstalled. Be sure to run the launcher or WoW executable as admin once on the new install so it writes the proper registry entries again though or it won't be able to patch properly.

Sometimes its nice to do a fresh install just to clear up old patch remains.

...or you could just delete the contents of the patches folder and what's left in the main directory. Takes about 4 seconds.
I did for me, just now. :p

My WoW folder is 27gb, just spent the best part of half an hour transferring it to my NAS :-/

I might just do a fresh install and then copy the WoW and WTF folder back

Mine is about 17gb.. so your extra 10gb is old patches that are stored. Go into your folder and whop out the delete key.

Im pretty sure things like keybinds, personal settings on wow i.e. where the buttons are place on action bars, fast quest text etc, are all saved server side now.

Though as everyone has said just copy the whole folder :).

Think my wow is 27Gb and i have just done a fresh instal.... can only assume its kept a few patches here and there.

I will definitely need to cull my WoW directory down as i'm having to squeeze my current 150gb C: into one of these :-/

Anyone else flick back through their screen shot folder to recall on old times ? :D

i wish, ive reinstalled windows so many times ive lost all the great screenshots ive had over the years of playing it

I've lost all the ones from my old char the first time i played wow. I've saved all the screen shots of the second char i started in February this year :)

I've just installed wow vanilla and the first update is 3.4 gb :-/

There's now a new 5.2gb update which has taken my wow folder back up to 24gb. How can I tell which updates I can delete ? :(

Don't you have your WOTLK disk? if so just plonk that straight in, and job done. You don't actually need the other disks.

I noticed that after I installed vanilla and the updates that tbc was also installed and then I just installed wotlk

It's all installed and working now, I just want to get the wow folder down in size as my ssd is only 80gb :(

I just did a completly fresh wow install using the wow-europe client link. End result, with no mods is 27GB :( my poor 60GB SSD that I chose to install it too is full now.

I'd also love know know whats safe to delete!

Cheers,
matt.
