Reinstalling XP without any setup CDs

My sister doesn't have any CDs for her laptop, no motherboard initial setup or anything I'm used to using. I've just reinstalled her Win XP but device manager isn't showing me any information, and updating video controller drivers isn't working. Her screen resolution is stuck at either 800x600 or 1024x768, and I can't for the life of me find any way to register other options. It's an old Celeron 550 2GHz with nothing fancy aside, but the install she's had on it for 3+ years had none of these problems - any ideas as to what I can do?

Go onto the manufacture website then find their support/downloads section and enter the model number.

If you find that then google the model number and you should find somewhere that lists the specifications of the laptop and then you'll see what graphics it has then you just need to download the appropriate driver.

Also running windows update often finds needed drivers for hardware and any 'unknown devices'.

HTH.

Thanks - update wasn't doing a lot of good, but the driver site gives me everything I need. Serial & model were on the bottom of the laptop!
