will make them look like this and will create a backup of the current ones in the Formats sub dir (not that it could break them anyway)

will work on every version of 7zip

download this, extract it to a folder then run the bat file, need to log off and back on to see changes :)

if anyone wants any more formats done, let me know!

they're all 32bit with support up to 96x96

Terrific work mate. I do like the 7zip format - the archive reader is such a decent bit of free software, and it often compresses things to a smaller size than WinRAR. I've even used it in a professional capacity for software delivery at work :)

Thanks!

Is 7z better then Rar with its compression algorithms? I've been hearing a lot about 7z for quite sometime now and its gaining popularity at a fast rate. I've only ever used Rar.

I was just about to post a thread asking for a freeware .RAR reader.. this looks as though it will do the job nicely. Nice app.

7z is better compression but slower, its getting a lot faster with each release tho!

i hate winrar and winzip because of their default context menu items which ruin the os layout! (easy to turn off i know)

7zip is clean and super fast at decompressing, also expands *.dl_ files quickly too, and the commandline version is flawless, and best of all its free!

Very nice work....thanks...

Yeah I prefer winrar because of the options it has when you right click on the zipped file....just easier

I use 7-zip because its a lot smaller as in what you can do, only the stuff you need and its free

Thanks...

Good job! :)

I have heard a fair bit about 7-Zip too but never bothered to try it as I am happy with WinRAR. I have just got a new desktop at work and that has 7-Zip installed so I am going to give it a bash on mine. :)

* Uninstalls WinRAR...

Cheers,

Got WinRAR temporarily disabled from common compression extensions, so I just installed 7Zip. Client looks nice if a little devoid of options atm. Going to give this a few months trial ta :)

Does 7-Zip support archive recovery? I just had a quick look and I didn't see anything but I may have missed it.

That is one thing I really like about WinRAR is archive recovery.
