I was just about to press the button on a 4080 purchase but will hold off now. How does this typically run in terms of timing? Announcement expected on the 7th, but will we then get the cards on the market in 2 weeks or something?

I doubt AMD will announce any price changes until they know what Nvidia’s prices are, there is a reason they are always second to market.

Not saying they are bad but they always seem a little lackluster, wait until Nvidia launches its prices then undercut them slightly while usually offering a lot less on the table and seem to get away with it. Just annoys me that they don't try harder, for everyones sake.

AMD never had a better opportunity than this gen to really go after Nvidia but unfortunately they are just content with 10% of the market while maximising profit margin, no ambition or appetite to really take Nvidia on.

Sad really.

I really wish they sold the gpu division and Radeon became its own thing again like the old ATI days.

Well its still a **** card for the price that'll be replaced by a £600 card possibly within the year.

The £600 card will be faster? I doubt it. Waiting a whole year for a slower and cheaper card.

The real question is whether AMD will slash the price of the 7900 XTX like they had to do with the 6900 XT.

I think the 4070 Super is a bit of an odd card. The performance boost for same money is kind of nice but thing putting me off spending that money wasn't today's performance but what 12GB means for the future so it's not really swaying me.

Traditionally the 70 has matched/beat the top 102 card from the previous gen, this time around it fell just short of the 3080 which was also built on a 102 die, the 4080 is on the 103 so I wouldn't be surprised to see a 5070 move past it.

Definitely not getting 4090 (AD102) tier performance for $600 next gen. So it goes back to, $600 might get 4080 (or even 4080 super) performance next year. But that's a whole year away.

The 4070 Ti ($800) only just about matched the 3080 Ti ($1200) and 3090 ($1500) at 4K. 4070 Super ($600) might get close to the 3080 Ti, but that's a full year after release. Ada also got a really good process shrink versus the rubbish Samsung node for Ampere.

How much do used 3080ti's and 3090s go for though now?, £500-600 despite being 15-20% faster than a 4070 so a 5070 don't even need to match a 4080 to send its price crashing especially if the 5000 have a new unique feature.

They still go for £500-600, a full year after Ada's release. Not sure why used prices are now relevant anyway.

A 4090 might be close to £600 in 2 years time, I agree. But now we are waiting 2 years.

Utterly depressing how much GPU's cost now. I've set myself a £350 budget for a 2nd hand GPU - still on a 1080Ti which is starting to show it's age now.

At this rate I think i'd just rather buy a PS5 as PC components are just getting too expensive.

Yeah that's a little bit of a no man's land atm, with a little luck the vanilla 4070s will drop a bit s/h to that kind of level when the Supers show up. Either that or a 6800XT which is still a great card with its decent vRam.
