How much would I be looking to pay for a middle-of-the-road Nehalem quad core processor on release compared to say, a few months down the line?
According to Aanandtech (and I'm sure others, just everytime you say something like this all the boys jump on you shouting for links) Nahalem will see no ( or very little ) increase in gaming performance over a good Penryn system.
I'd expect them to come in at the same price (for midrange) as the Q6600 did about 6 months ago.
Gaming performance might not be uber improved but the short pipeline architecture will be excellent news for video encoding\decoding!
Well it's what ive been waiting for. Hopefully they'll be a new line of gfx out by then.
maybe the GTX380 or the 5870(?)
xmas pressy to myself![]()
I`m not sure but I think NVIDIA`s GTX 280 Series will be replaced with newer card same time next year, but not sure about ATI.
The cheapest one is meant to be $280, ive a funny feeling there was a link on another thread about the prices.

Found that link, dunno how accurate their sources are, but it looks like a nice overclocker anyway!
