does anyone have any recommendations? - currently have a netgear DM111P which is giving me agro as its not passing the external ip onto my netgear FVS114 firewall on occasion.

just going to be used for a small business that needs sold VPN access.

draytek and billion, but i prefer netgear because i can alter the SNR via dmt tool.
if your running in bridge then any modem will do i guess

I would normally have just said Cisco, but if you're thinking along the lines of Netgear, then the Linksys AM200 would be perfect for you.

DrayTek Vigor 100, have about a dozen of them in various places all working perfectly.

They are proper PPPoE/A bridges that don't mess with the data and provide a direct connection - no funny routing involved, found them to work very well with things like pfSense and various other firewalls.

what i dont like about linksys is their hardly update their firmwares for their products.
i had a linksys model=adsl2mue which claimed it was 24meg compatible(adsl2+) after find out it didnt support it because it needed and update that wasnt even avaible on the website.
