I was always used to use Fraps or MSI Afterburner with Riva Tuner Stats Server (RTSS) but its seems Fraps and RTSS do not play nice with some games and caused crashes

COD Modern Warfare you are able to use Windows key & Print Screen which works well and saves to C:\Users\%username%\Pictures\Screenshots this also works Trackmania stadium but some other games it doesn't, no screenshots saved to the above directory

Just using Print Screen key to copy then opening paint and paste sometimes works, but you can only take one to copy. Some games it will just show a solid black screen

Steam you can use Steam overlay and F12... not all games are Steam games

Geforce Experience (Ansel?) I have not tried as do not like driver bulk, it may work well but have read stories of it making some games instable, similar to RTSS

Is there a global screen capture program that works with all games and does not cause instability?

Edit - It seems there is also Game Bar. Windows key & G then Windows Key & alt & Print screen (or click capture)

I just have Windows Key + Print Screen saved to a macro key. It's never failed to save a screenshot yet, in any game. Although if that's not working for you all the time, have you tried using W10 game bar? I think you have to hit Windows Key + ALT + Print Screen with that and I also seem to remember it saves it to a different folder.

Thanks, just found the game bar. It saves to C:\Users\%username%\Videos\Captures

Seems to work in the two games i’ve tried so far. Thanks

Does this work for screenshots only? Or does it take video too?

As an aside, from memory if you are playing any games through steam then one of the F keys takes a screenshot in game. Think its F12 but it could be F10 or 11! It's certainly one of the latter F keys.

I remember taking loads in COD AW a few years back.

Will try in a bit for video capture.
Yep, F12
