Religion and tolerance.

Yep, let me rephrase it to what he actually meant:

"When you land at Heathrow you'd swear you were in Kenya - what with all the darkies!"

The worst bit was the Vatican clarifying his comments to mean exactly that.

The Vatican said the cardinal had not intended "any kind of slight", and was referring to the UK's multicultural society.

It's probably in response to Dawkins & Hitchens trying to get some justice, the 'organization' this idiot is in molested and raped hundreds of children and then raped them again with the cover-up!
Perhaps he should get his own house in order first before making unsubstantiated accusations!!

Enjoy your gout god boy, even better ask god to heal it for you, oh wait you have and he hasn't, probably for the same reason superman hasn't answered my requests for flight around the world, brought me an asteroid or punched a shark in the face so hard it turned inside out.

Third world because people aren't what you would call English?

No because the service is just terrible, although I suppose doctors not speaking intelligible English can contribute to that.

What makes the service you receive at heathrow or the doctors 3rd world?

Medications available everywhere else not available here, doctors badly trained, being given NHS prescriptions which cost far more than the pharmacist charges etc.

What a couple of utterly pathetic comments  and a complete insult to people who genuinely have to endure the daily rigors of a third world country
You should be ashamed of yourself for agreeing with such a ridiculous comment!

I thought you were campaigning for a 3rd world UK with your policy on nuclear power?

Bothered.

I don't care what an old crackpot religious loon thinks anyway. It just yet again shows how out of touch the Catholic church is to the modern world! And they wonder why attendances are falling and why their load of looted gold is dwindling? Deal with it. People are wising up old men. Hardly helped by the fact that a load of your priests are kiddy fiddlers.

Heathrow is a dump though (apart from T5). :D

Wut? Who goes to Heathrow for pills??

I thought you were campaigning for a 3rd world UK with your policy on nuclear power? You should be pleased.

What the smeg are you babbling about man!? Third world countries with Nuclear power... like France for example??

What, just open your eyes and take a look around you. Oh and lay off whatever you're taking.

So in a 3rd world country, doctors speak the local language poorly. Didn't know that.

Medications available everywhere else not available here, doctors badly trained, being given NHS prescriptions which cost far more than the pharmacist charges etc.

Then how about don't pay the prescription charge and pay for the the medicine outright. What medicine isn't available here? Or is it just not free.

Doctors badly trained? I'd hate to be in a country with worse medical schools than us. Wait, that's the entire world apart from the US.

He has a point you know, no-ones starving or disease ridden here. Oh you have to wait in mild discomfort for a protracted period of time at the modern airport with all it's facilities, I'D RATHER BE DEAD!

Get some perspective.

Oh I have got some perspective. I look at how this country was 15 years ago and I look at it now and I see a likeness. By the way it's not just the airports. ;)

So in a 3rd world country, doctors speak the local language poorly. Didn't know that.

Do you know what a hyperbole is?

Then how about don't pay the prescription charge and pay for the the medicine outright. What medicine isn't available here? Or is it just not free.

You can't, the medication must be prescribed on the NHS unless you see a private doctor.

Many psychiatric drugs are not available in the UK, bupropion and tianeptine for example, which are 1st line drugs in countries such as the USA and France which much superior side effects to other comparable medications.

Doctors badly trained? I'd hate to be in a country with worse medical schools than us. Wait, that's the entire world apart from the US.

Because medical school is the entirety of a doctors training, oh wait.

Do you know what a hyperbole is?

Hyperbole is used to make a point. There isn't one made. Please explain.

You can't, the medication must be prescribed on the NHS unless you see a private doctor.

So I thought you said medicine was above cost? Also prescription charges exist for a very good reason and its nothing to do with being a 3rd world country.

Many psychiatric drugs are not available in the UK, bupropion and tianeptine for example, which are 1st line drugs in countries such as the USA and France which much superior side effects to other comparable medications.

Banned in the UK?

Because medical school is the entirety of a doctors training, oh wait.

I'd love you to see you name countries with better doctors. I suspect it'll be a case of that one doctor you once got treated 5 years ago in France resulting in your theory that their doctors are much better.

Even then, when did being worse than France in healthcare = 3rd world.

Hyperbole is used to make a point. There isn't one made. Please explain.

It's a statement of exagerration not meant to be taken literally.

So I thought you said medicine was above cost? Also prescription charges exist for a very good reason and its nothing to do with being a 3rd world country.

Yes medications are above cost, benzodiazepines, amphetamines, opioids etc.

Banned in the UK?

The medication is not approved for the condition and thus not available for prescription.

I'd love you to see you name countries with better doctors. I suspect it'll be a case of that one doctor you once got treated 5 years ago in France resulting in your theory that their doctors are much better.

France, Germany, USA, Australia, Japan all have better doctors than the ones I've seen. No where did I state that all doctors in the UK are poor, NHS GP's have bad training.

It's a statement of exagerration not meant to be taken literally.

Yes... so what's the point?
There must have been a reason why you said it. You exaggerate to make a subtle point clearer.

So let's go back to the sentence.

"No because the service is just terrible, although I suppose doctors not speaking intelligible English can contribute to that."

Contribute in what shape or form? Either this is a completely redundant sentence, or you're trying to say something. What are you trying to say?

Yes medications are above cost, benzodiazepines, amphetamines opioids etc.

So its cheaper in France, Germany, USA, Australia, Japan? You do realise that in the UK prescription charges are simply another source of money for the NHS? So this would be captured by your insurance premiums in the US anyway. In France you have to be coinsured. The others, I'm not sure how the systems work.

The medication is not approved for the condition and thus not available for prescription.

It seems only the US and France have approved bupropion. So that is 2 first world countries. (edit(correction): there are more, but a drugs approval board is hardly a sign of being backwards)

France, Germany, USA, Australia, Japan all have better doctors than the ones I've seen. No where did I state that all doctors in the UK are poor, NHS GP's have bad training.

You're a medical standards researcher? What's this based on.

How very retarded.

A big reason why a lot of third world countries are so crippled with aids is because his idiotic religion told them to not use condoms. Oops.

British Airways discriminated against for not putting crosses on their tails? What's that got to do with it, British Airways have had trouble for other reasons. Being discriminated against because they had a cross is certainly not one of them.

"New and aggressive atheism" You're right - hang that Dawkins and his slow, often unheard and utterly meaningless damnation of paedophiles.

"Agressive" atheism, is it atheists or other Abrahmic religions who don't like the cross on BA airplanes?

It all leads me to think it's either bad selective quoting from the BBC, or the Cardinal isn't entirely sure who or what he's angry about?
