Reload of Windows Software

Trying to re-install Windows on my dads Medion laptop, the disc that came with it is SP1A got it all working and updated it fine. Just downloaded the windows validation file and run it twice and its crashed the computer twice. Tried installing SP2 and the same. Can i use my copy of XP home SP2 and the Product key on the lappy legally or wont it work.

Any help would be usefull

BTW its all legal software no snides.

Yeah this should be fine as long as the laptop product key is only used on one PC and it was originally intended for XP Home

Yup it is, just downloaded another copy of SP2 gonna try that if that dont work will use other copy.
