I wish to put the My Documents folder on a server share, on Windows XP this was very simple, you right clicked the My Documents folder and changed it's location.

On Windows 7 it appears that your profile folder has replaced the My Documents folder as My Documents no longer contanis My Pictures, Videos etc. Is the correct way of going about this to simply change the location of each speical folder or can you somehow change the location of the main profile folder so that all the other special folders inherit the change?

Hope this makes sense

each folder is independent but you can move them all. but rather than edit the location of each one manually, you can simply cut/paste them to a new location. i have no idea if this works on network locations though - mine are on another local drive.

I thought on Win7 there was a 'Library' folder that contained the sub-folders Documents, Pictures, Videos etc.

libraries are another thing altogether. they're meant for consolidating folders spread over multiple locations so you can browse the files as if they were all in the same folder.
