Looking for thoughts on whether a remanufactured Nikon D3300 at a saving of £60 would be worth it. New with a 18-55 VR II lens is about £299.

You're confused about the VR II as well I'm afraid...
The AF-P 18-55 VR uses the same 4 stop VR system as the AF-S 18-55 VR II. The II refers to the fact that they upgraded the lens in many ways, not just the VR, over the first version of the AF-S 18-55 VR.
Ah, that would make sense. Still not sure why a P is newer than an S or do they go backwards through the alphabet
Andi.
Nikon sometimes call it Renewed as well.
I am thinking a new one is probably the best route, but I'll have to find some more funds for that.
Very confusing that the AF-P is a newer lens than the AF-S and even more so that it only has the VR system rather that VR II.
I'm seeing all sorts of different combinations of lens in D3300 Kits sometimes seeing non VR, VR and VR II lenses listed.
"It's all rather confusing really" - anyone old enough to remember where that phrase came from? without googling it
