For any of you oldies who like me spent too many hour playing elite just to either become elite or to find the mythical massive mining ships then try oolite, just google it, its a free download.... suprisingly playable even after all these years especially with all the user missions/add ons

Neil I did have a quick look at your indie page but didnt see anything about it, apologies if its on there

my bad, should have searched it, but its still a fun FREE game, give it a go m8 as you seem to like your retro games :)

Federation of free traders...

I think :D, going by memory anyway.. you could go on planets aswell like elite

Remember Elite? I managed Elite status on both the original BBC/B version and the Spectrum version (even with that damn Lenslock device). I still have the novel (The Dark Wheel) that came with the Spectrum version.

All time favourite game!

haha, lenslock.. now I remember.. I played it on the BBC B and it will always have good memories for the best PC game of the era.

Saw the entry on Kickstarter for the remake for this. £1.25m seems quite steep...

Dont want to divert the thread here, but if you think SWTOR cost £150 million to develop, £1.25 million is a drop in the ocean for any game with an MMO bent. I seriously doubt that they can do it for that, thats just an indication of interest to entice investors.

I agree.

£1.25 million is nothing in terms of AAA game development when everything is factored in.

As said, as with a lot of Kickstarters, this is to show potential investors there is interest.

I wasn't referring to the cost of the games development, just interest. He's basically asking for £1.25m on the basis of a logo and nostalgia.

Not really, he represents a studio with over 200 staff and has successfully delivered a number of games. More than just a logo and nostalgia.

i could never manually dock with a space station and lost interest very quickly :(

There's a trick to it. You find the side with the door on it and fly across the station like so while looking out of the side of your ship facing the station.

Once the door is in the centre of your screen, stop dead, revert to front view, turn 90 degrees so the station is above or below you, then bank up or down until it's in front of you. You are now directly facing the door and pointing straight at it. Throttle gently forward and you should dock without scraping the sides.
