The photographers who chased Diana the Princess of Wales on the journey in which she died have been fined 68p.

The sum was dished out by a Paris appeals court for invasion of privacy.
...
The appeals court fined them the symbolic 68p, split between the three of them, in a ruling on Friday, with the announcement of the ruling delayed for a few days.
...
Fayed's father, Egyptian-born billionaire Mohammed Al Fayed, filed the invasion of privacy complaint. The 68p will be paid to him.

68p?!!!!!

Trouble is it's so difficult to attack the press when they're wrong/(if you've felt that they have wronged). The media in that respect are far too powerful and paparazzi are the pick of it :(

If they were gonna do a symbolic one they could at least have chosen a number divisible by 3. Now one of em will get off with a lighter fine than the other two!

ok but why only one euro, surely they should be fined more than that or not fined at all, doesnt seem worth it after you think of the cost of the court case
The symbolism is that the photographers are guilty of something, but that the value of that something is squat.

Erm... that's a lot of money, how do the courts ever expect them to pay?

dont forget its slpit 3 ways..so 22.7p each, making it much more affordable

not squat, lives of 2 people = 68p

And the something in question is Invasion of Privacy, specifically taking pictures after the car had crashed. This has nothing to do with what caused the car to crash and tbh it really isn't news at all.

Bloody French ('cept Freefaller) - how are you supposed to divide 68p (let alone one Euro) between 3? :p

God knows what'll happen if the French get onto a 33.3333r debate with all that wine around.

On a serious note:

:( :(
