What software do I need and how do I do it thanks?

I need to connect my laptop whilst at home to an offic pc :)

RealVNC, Windows built in Remote Desktop or something like Team Viewer.

I personally use RealVNC and it works really well.

I had a go at windows built in remote desktop but cannot find any settings other than allow remote access: controlpanel/system and security/system/remote settings. The only options I get is "allow remote assistance connections to this computer" which is ticked. Under advanced allow this computer to be controlled remotely is ticked, and maximum amount of time invitations can remain open, is set to 6. There are no other options. OS is windows 7 home premium. Thanks

Heck just found an option in accessories but I do not know the name as of yet of the pc I wish to connect to.

what OS does your office PC have?

If you were to go down the Remote Desktop route then the PC you are connecting to will need something like XP Pro, Vista Business and above or W7 Pro and above (these OS's come with Remote Desktop Server).

If this PC is on a different network to your laptop then you'll need port forwarding or similar setup on the office network (the company may allready have this setup?).

Alternatively as has been mentioned, some flavour of VNC or Teamviewer would work great. Teamviewer would get my vote as it's very easy to setup, doesnt require any port forwarding and simple use :)
