My uncle is hasseling me to reinstall his AV software and as I can't be bothered to treck to his house I said I'd do it remotely.
Normally I use LogMeIn for my remote access but as I've not been to his house
the software isn't installed on his PC and he's not got the know-how to do pretty much anything.

For work we use go to assist which allows a user to visit a URL and enter a code which downloads the necessary software and connects me up.

Is there any free equivilent you can think of?

Cheers

Is it enabled and allowed through the xp firewall by default?

He has Norton on at the moment and the subscription is about to run out (he's now panicking so I need to install something else for him).

Would the NIS firewall block remote assistance by default?
I have no idea how to navigate NIS as I long ago stopped using it
so the thought of advising someone who has no pc know-how over the phone is daunting.

Meh. I was going to install Comodo.
All I need to do is set the installation away and let it go then I can disconnect.
I've not had any antivirus software in years and I've not had owt.
I doubt he'll be knackered in the ten minutes it'll take to install! :p
