What is the best way to enable remote access, My friend has a small business and wants to be able to do remote access. There are about 8 users, they don't have a server but have a QNAP TS-421 NAS system. They want to give users access to file from home, mobile sites etc. But giving different people different levels of access to files, so some users having access to all files and others just a few files and some in between. What would be the best way to enable remote access. I believe that the QNAP TS-421 has some kind of system for this, but is it any good or are there better ways?

More than one user would be remotely accessing files. Would more than one machine need to be left on?
 
Thanks i will look at VPN option.. will need to download and read up on the QNAP unit they have. Has anyone here got a QNAP system that they have configured VPN to?
