I'm trying to connect to my sister PC via remote assistance. She has sent me an invitation, and I can get as far as here logon but cannot logon. The username is helpassistant. She does not use a logon for her computer. how do i get around this?

Thanks

Try Teamviewer

You can send her the file and she can run it without installing. Get her to tell you the id and password.

The free version will let you connect for 15 minutes at a time. When the 15 minutes run out, simply reconnect with the same password.

I got her to setup a new account and used that to log in. She has to log off for me to connect. i got a blank blue screen, then a white screen, then disconnected, and now i can't connect again. I'm not going to try again tonight, I'll have a read up and use remote desktop instread (think she can stay logged on using that). Thanks anyway.

Or you could use team viewer. :p

she does use a login, she just doesn't know it

get her to type

%username%

in the run box and it'll say "administrator" is not a valid command or soemthing, so you'll know what the name is then

unless she's a 1337 hax0r and is using minlogon.exe :p

I'd use RDC or VNC. VNC has the nice touch of the user being able to see what your doing, but it does have to be installed on both machines.

Also you just need to check the firewall. make sure the port of the app your using has incoming and outgoing access.
